Was this just a dream?

Was this what she was dreaming about? While I am watching hockey or football or reading the sports page, Darlene is into the classifieds, reading the "Out of Country Vacations" section. During the cold weather she actually does this every day, imagining what it would be like enjoying a tropical climate. Maybe not as fancy as the above, but at least warmer than Calgary. One day she found a reasonably priced condo available in Mexico. We liked the owners and location so we sealed the deal and went looking for this place somewhere in Puerto Vallarta.

The travel guides tell you there are actually three ways to get from the airport to your destination. You can take a cab right at the terminal. Or, to avoid the airport tax, you simply cross the street and catch a cab for half the price. The third way is to ride the city bus like the locals do.

Here we are in the blue bus we were told would take us to our destination. The buses in Mexico are a real treat if you like scary rides for a bargain. Best transportation you will find anywhere.

We didn't really know where we were going but we had a good landmark: The Rosita Hotel, which the bus driver had never heard of. We eventually saw it as we flew by, got off the bus, and began our search.

Here's what we found just around the corner from the Rosita.

Inside we found No. 2 - where we would call home for the next two weeks. It was everything we had hoped it would be and more.

Looking to
the left you
see the rear
entrance. This
leads to a
private patio
decked with
furniture, a
barbecue, and
two pools.

This is the same entrance looking from the outside. The windows of our condo are on the left.

Turning around you catch a panoramic view of the ocean and sand. You can see "new" Vallarta in the distance.

Here's another view, looking to the left.

It was indeed a wonderful spot.

Oh yes. In the first picture of this post; that lady you see catching some sun beside the pool? You're right. It's Darlene - living out her dream for Christmas 2006.

No, but you've given me an idea how to finance my next trip. Didn't even notice my look-a-like when taking this.
