It was the router!

Nothing tests my patience more than the one-eyed monster on my desk. Just when you think everything is running smooth as can be, suddenly everything slows down to a crawl. The guy at SHAW suggested it might be the router - this little black box to the left. The one on my desk is blinking at me. Or is it winking?
I had my doubts, but decided to give them a call. Lo and behold, in six or seven minutes, a human voice spoke to me, then kindly and gently walked me (on my back - under the desk - with a flashlight) through an upgrade. It's always a challenge talking with support people who don't understand what gizmos or thingys are. But we both survived, and now my BEFSR41vet.2 (the name of the little box, not a cuss word) is back in business.
Delighted, I went straight to this very spot to tell my story, only to be informed that the Blog server was now down for repairs and my original post was lost in cyberspace forever. Ah the joy of getting back up to speed - then crashing - only to rise again. With all the wires in the right places - perhaps.

Thanks for the timely encouragement. Yesterday a window popped up with a friendly "do you want to download SpamBlockerUtility?" Since my partner was trying to eliminate some unwanted junkmail, I thought this would be the cat's meow. NOT. Don't do it, unless you want your e-mail toolbar inundated with a circus of unwanted curiosity teasers (e.g. "Jewelry Auctions," goofy backgrounds, cards, bouncing emoticons, etc.). I went to bed last night thinking there might be some sinister force trying to get into my house through the computer. Yikes. Don't know how much more of this unsolicited "help" I can take. Btw, that friendly blocker has been blocked. Whew! Might just go back to pen and pencil for a while.
