Here's looking at you, kid

He landed on the mountain ash just outside our dining room window. Was he watching me? He pecked a bit at the tree; maybe looking for nesting material? Then he jumped down to the stone path and hopped over to the sidewalk. After doing a little dance, he bounced onto the lamp post ledge and had a drink. Flying back to another tree, he just sat there. He seemed to be on a mission of some kind. What was he up to? Then it hit me; he was waiting for someone.

About half an hour later he had left the tree and was back on the sidewalk. Sure enough, there she was. Now there were two. Spring has finally sprung and soon there will be two or three more.

Ken, your post lightened my heart this morning. :) Tis a gift to be human, but sometimes I envy the simplicity of the birds. Thanks for sharing this story.

This mother robin is having fun tending to her young. One down for a nap (Luckily I caught the 'window' which came at about 10:30 this morning) and the other lying next to me here cooing and smiling away - won't be long before her window...and then, just maybe, this mama will get a rest too (her window is always wide open...)
